Lindsay for the troops

In September's issue of Elle Magazine Lindsay Lohan talks about wanting to give some of her time to the troops in Iraq, but Hillary Clinton has not been able to set anything up for her. Lindsay says:

"I've been trying to go to Iraq with Hillary Clinton for so long," Lohan, 20, tells Elle magazine in its September issue, according to the New York Post. "Hillary was trying to work it out, but it seemed too dangerous."

She continues, "I wanted to do what Marilyn Monroe did (during the Korean War), when she went and just set up a stage and did a concert for the troops all by herself. It's so amazing seeing that one woman just going somewhere, this beautiful sex kitten, who's basically a pinup, which is what I've always aspired to be."

Even without Sen. Clinton, Lohan is confident she can handle an Iraq trip on her own. "I'm not afraid of going," she says. "My security guard is going to take me to a gun range when I get back to L.A., and I'm going to start taking shooting lessons."

There are so many things wrong with this whole thing that I don't know where to begin. First off, why shooting lessons? Does she think it is vital to learn how to shoot a weapon should she suddenly turn into GI Jane and be forced to join the Army? I seriously doubt they are going to hand over and AK-47 to her when she steps off the plane, no matter HOW badly she wants to make it THE MUST HAVE accessory for Fall. All I have to say is that knowing she has gone to a range and shot a gun, I now feel sorry for the razzi's from this point on. Secondly, what kind of concert is she going to put on. Does she actually mean she is going to do a tour in the army? I sure as hell hope she isn't planning on singing...especially if it is live, seeing as how it would be more humane for her to get on stage and strangle a cat into the microphone. Let's not forget her live performance on ABC for the Grammys(?)...

Wow, that was painful. Third, does she know that there is probably not a whole lot of booze or hip night clubs to go hang out at and drink herself into oblivion? Fourth, when has good ole Hill talked about going over? Seems she has spent most of her time making sure the gays in NY can't get married. But on the reals, I guess I should give her credit for making an effort to do something humanitarian-like even if she is doing it get some respectable publicity. PS - I'll believe it when I see it. PSS - You are and will never be Marilyn Monroe. She was a one of kind that will never be replicated or cloned by anyone...EVER.
