People say the DUMBEST Things
From a conversation on IM regarding working out and my current appearance and someone that is trying to get in shape in two weeks (circuit party name and city name have been taken out to protect the stupid) :
"Well you don't have a circuit party to get ready for in two weeks.....We're going to "Circuit Party" in Anytown...it's kind of a tradition."
I laughed SO hard at that, and can I just say that...um...opening presents with your mom's side of the family on Christmas Eve is a tradition. Going to a family farm for the July 4th weekend every year, that's a tradition. Going with your friends and getting cracked out at a circuit party...that is not a tradition, that is a weekend hanging out with your friends, spending buckets of cash, and getting wasted, but to each his own I guess.
BTW, for those not in "the know", a circuit party is a big gay dance event that involves loud trance music, expensive drinks with very little booze, sweaty shirtless men/boys of varying ages (some hot but most not), and any kind of drug you could ever think of to take in an environment like that. They are usually held to make someone A LOT of money or to benefit some kind of charity...you know...like fighting the spread of HIV, despite the fact that most people at these events are cracked out of their heads on crystal meth, GHB, or X, which will probably result in a lot of unprotected sex, thus making the fundraising for HIV prevention moot. I have been to a couple of parties since coming out (but did NOT partake in the drugs), and while I did have a great time with my friends, the rest of it was pretty underwhelming. I mean, you can only stand in mile long lines to the bathroom because people insist on going in in groups to hoover coke or whatever up their nostrils and watch tweaked out messes dance continuously without stopping while mugging down with the nearest sweaty body, and 50+ year old men chase after 20 year old twinks for so long before it gets old and you get tired of pointing at it and start to fail being able to find humor in it.
