KRBE SUCKS

So, I listen...er...listened to Atom and Maria on 104.1 KRBE every morning at work, but this was my first day back from vacation and there was no Atom and Maria in the morning. After doing some research, and by research, I mean googled them, I found out that they have been terminated from their jobs at KRBE. Now, I don't know why or for what reason, but it wasn't for lack of humor. An article by the Chronicle simply states: "As good as they are, they had a specific appeal with the 25 and under (age) range," said Patrick Fant, market manager for Cumulus Media Partners, which has owned KRBE since May. "We're hoping to broaden that a bit. We're about to introduce the market's next big thing." I guess going after the younger demographic isn't as lucrative as everyone thinks. And also, what in the hell can possibly be the next BIG THING in radio? I guess we will find out July 24. I hope it tanks. Thank God I only stream them over the web, otherwise I might have to settle for listening to Sam Malone...BLECH! [Houston Chronicle]
